In Moltrasio, on the old Via Regina, there is the parish Church of San Martino, where a relic with the holy thorn of Jesus Crucified is kept and a real jewel of Romanesque architecture: the small church of Sant’ Agata. This church with two aisles and an adjacent graveyard (which is not there anymore) was first built in the 11th century. A historical document mentions the devotion of the people from Moltrasio to the Sicilian holy Martyr and a charitable organization called “lumineria” was also established in her name.
